Description

Sketched and inked traditionally, scanned and painted in Photoshop.

This is another slightly older piece. I think I might return to it someday because I like the background, but the foreground suffers from the same issues as my other piece, Jaorin: Son of the Stag, where the inking is a bit too distracting and doesn't blend so well with the painterly colouring. The perspective on his perch is a bit messed up too.

That said, I enjoyed painting the background immensely, and playing with the colours of the sunset. (The roofs are green, btw, because they are the sort of aged copper you get with certain types of old buildings, rather like the way the Statue of Liberty is green, or the way the Canadian Parliament's roofs are.)

Very well done, even if there are 2 different styles in this painting, as you have said in the description. Nice painting! +5/5 :)

I like the inking of the chacter. You mentioned in your description you found the inking to harsh. To give yourself better control in photoshop put in on its own layer, lock transpency, then erase lighly, paint over the black colors, (the ink dosen't have to be black) ect to give yourself an inking job thats less harsh.

Thanks for the info, Kariefury. I have actually done that with other pieces that came later. I honestly think I'd just repaint him so he wouldn't have lines at all--more painterly all around. But going with different ink colours would also help soften it, I'm sure.
